Courses of which pre-requisite is not fulfilled, cannot be taken. However, if the student received DD or DC from the pre-requisite course, then repeated the course for increasing the grade, they are counted as fulfilled the pre-requisite even though they have received F.
If F or FX received from W signed required courses, these courses shall be repeated when first opened. If the repeated course is elective, it can be replaced by another elective course with the advisor’s approval, provided that it is in the same category and available at the curriculum. Reasoned situations are evaluated in the respective Faculty Executive Board with the proposal of the Head of Department.
Students may repeat the courses in order to increase their grades if they have received DD or DC before. Courses with CC and better grades cannot be repeated.
Whatever grade is received formerly, the final grade shall be valid for the repeated course.
The course substitution procedures should be completed during the course registration. Retroactive course substitution can not be done after registration procedures are completed.
The students can substitute a course of the same group with another course they have previously followed.
A similar or a simpler version of a previously followed course can not be chosen in the Free elective category. For example: The students if Engineering Faculties can not take MATH 103 or MATH 111.
Among the students who have been placed in the undergraduate programs of our University through International / ÖSYS placement or Undergraduate Transfer as of 2024, those who have an IB Diploma and whose diploma grade is at least 29 out of 45, the grades they receive in this diploma program are counted towards the TEDU courses in the Appendix-1.
If a course couple overlaps for one hour per week, the student can take the course upon the approval of the advisor. For more overlapping hours, approval of both faculty members and the approval of the advisor is compulsory.
During the summer school two overlapping hours may be allowed.

Students who have failed at the end of this period will forfeit all their rights.
Undergraduate Programs
- The Higher Education Law No. 2547 can be accessed from the link below http://www.mevzuat.gov.tr/MevzuatMetin/1.5.2547.pdf
- The rights of the students at the end of the maximum period of the programs are stated in detail in Article 44 of the Law. Students must consider the maximum period of study as stated in detail in the Article 44 of the related law during course registration.
Maximum Period
- The time spent at the English Language School is not included in the maximum duration of undergraduate programs.
- At the end of the 14th semester, if the minimum DD / P and Cum GPA = 2.00 from all courses in the curriculum are not met, the student gets dismissed from the school.
- In accordance with Law No. 2547, additional period is given to students who started their undergraduate program in 2013-2014 Fall semester and before. These additional periods (the end of the 14th Semester) will end at the end of the 2020-2021 Academic Year Spring semester. If the graduation requirements are not met at the end of the 2020-2021 Spring semester, they will be dismissed from the school.
- For students who started their undergraduate program in the Fall semester of 2014-2015, the maximum study period is 14 semesters from the date of starting the program. If the graduation requirements are not met at the end of this period, they will be dismissed from the school.
Principles on the Implementation
(1) The maximum period of undergraduate study is stated as seven years and the procedures to be followed at the end of this period are indicated in the Article 44 of the Law No. 2547. Amendments in the Law regarding this issue has been introduced as of 2014/2015 Academic Year. To this end, the maximum period for the students who had entered the program before 2014/2015 Academic Year, has been started as of the Fall Semester in 2014/2015 Academic Year.
(2) Procedures to be followed for the students who could not fulfill the requirements for graduation at the end of the maximum period of study are as follows:
- Students are granted two additional exam rights on the dates as announced in the Academic Calendar for the courses they have previously taken and failed (Grade F and FX).
- At the end of these two additional exams, students whose remaining credit courses (courses not yet taken or courses with F and FX grade) for graduation are 6 and above are dismissed from the University.
- At the end of these exams, students whose remaining credit courses are 2 to 5 are granted a registration right for 3 additional semesters.
- Students who waiver their two additional exam rights are granted a registration right for 4 additional semesters. At the end of this additional period, students with more than one remaining credit courses for graduation are dismissed from the University. Students with one credit course are granted registration right for indefinite semesters.
- Students who have received passing grades in all courses in the program curriculum but could not fulfill the GPA required for graduation have additional registration right for indefinite semesters for the courses they have selected.
- Students in additional period who did not register for three Academic Years successively or intermittently are dismissed from the University.
(3) No additional exam right is granted for the courses for which the letter grade evaluation has been made through several studies (design courses, studios, laboratories, summer practice, term project, thesis, thesis courses, etc.) throughout the semester. Courses in this context are announced upon the decision by the administrative board of the relevant faculty.
(4) No make-up exam available for the students who did not use their additional exam rights on the announced date.
(5) The grade received at the exam is exclusively evaluated and converted to letter grade. Grades received throughout the semester are not considered.
(6) Students who are granted additional period of study must meet their tuition fee liabilities in order to register for a semester.*
*Basic tuition fee (total number of remaining credits required for graduation) determined for the semester is deducted from the tuition fee of the subsequent semester based on the calculation of credits received that semester at the end of add/drop period.
For the past semesters or the post-registration period;
Module group changes can be made through MyTEDU Portal using the “Module Group Change Request” application. Students will submit module group changes (Free Elective, CC Elective, Departmental Elective etc.) for the advisor’s approval and advisors will approve. These procedures can be done similarly during the academic year.
The internship courses, should be added to the course registration by the student during the fall semester registration procedures following the summer internship program.
The students of the 7th and 8th semesters have to register to TEDU 400 if they have not previously completed the credits of this course.
TEDU students have to complete a secondary degree program.
Students who have gained 30 credits and who wish to change their secondary field can make their choice through the Secondary Field Selection link under Registration menu on MyTEDU portal within the dates indicated in the academic calendar.
If the student has not selected a secondary field program prior to registration, he/she can not follow the courses of the secondary field program
The secondary field programs are announced by the departments.
The semester and the number of the secondary field program courses may vary depending on the departmental programs.
