Leave of Absence Principles and Procedures for Undergraduate Students
(1) Students are entitled to leave the University for a maximum of two consecutive semesters and four semesters in total during their term of the study. In obligatory situations upon the proposal of the relevant faculty administrative board the term can be extended with the decision of the University Administrative Board.
(2) Students requesting leave of absence from the university must pay half the tuition fee of the pertinent semester and clear all their debts to the university prior to the activation of the process. The tuition fees paid for the period of leave will not be deducted from the following semester’s fees.
(3) The student who takes a semester leave is considered to have used the scholarship period; however, in case of force majeure, the University Administrative Board decides whether or not the leave period is to be counted towards the scholarship period.
(4) The specific cases of undergraduate students who apply for a leave of absence due to reasons such as sudden illness, accident, etc. outside the dates indicated in the academic calendar are to be evaluated by the University Administrative Board upon recommendation by the Faculty Administrative Board. Undergraduate students who are considered to be on leave by the decision of the University Administrative Board after the application deadline are liable to pay the full tuition fee for the related semester.
(5) Students who suspend their studies cannot register for courses. If there are courses taken at other institutions during this period, these courses cannot be counted towards the programs at the University.
