Frequently Asked Questions - Minor Degree Program

Students who will apply for minor degree programs in relevant semester should apply via online platform on the dates specified in the academic calendar. Click for detailed information.

The beginning of the third semester and no later than the beginning of the sixth semester after enrolling in your first semester of the major undergraduate program.

Terms of application to the MDP are as follows:

a) Having completed successfully of all the courses in the curriculum of the major program prior to the application period (courses in the W status are considered as not taken),

b) Having a GPS of at least 2.50,

c) Being at the beginning of the third semester at the earliest and at the beginning of the sixth semester at the latest as of the first semester of registration to the major undergraduate program.

Students can apply for more than one MDP at the same time in order of preference. However, since registration cannot be made for two programs at the same time, only one program is registered. It is only possible to enroll in a DMP in a different field than MDP and MDP at the same time as the major program.

Students attending their MDP study must take at least six courses from MDP with at least 18 credits in addition to all the courses of their major program.

The total course credits that MDP students can enroll in major and MDP in one semester is 8 credits more than the normal course load of the major program.

With the recommendation of the department offering the MDP and the decision of the relevant faculty board, the courses taken in the DMP can be counted towards the MDP, provided that the student leave the DMP.

In a minor program, students are required to complete a minimum of four courses, corresponding to no less than twelve credits. In addition, up to six credits may be transferred from courses that are either common with or equivalent to those in the major program. The transfer of such credits must be approved by a decision of the relevant Faculty's Administrative Board.

Students are required to register for MDP in the first semester they are accepted. Otherwise, they forfeit their right to register.

(1) In order to continue in the Minor Degree Program, students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.29 in their major program. Students who fail to meet this requirement will be dismissed from the Minor Degree Program.

(2) Students who do not take any courses from the Minor Degree Program for two consecutive semesters will also be dismissed from the program. However, such students may reapply to the Minor Degree Program if they meet the application requirements.

MDP is a certificate program independent of the registered major program of the student. This certificate does not replace a diploma. Only a certificate is given to the graduate student. Students who have completed the MDP cannot have the rights and authorizations granted with associate and undergraduate degrees in the field of the MDP.

Students who have achieved the right to graduate from the major program, but have not completed the MDP, receive the diploma of the major program and continue with the MDP.

Students who have the right to graduate from the major program and have not yet completed the MDP are granted an additional period of two semesters at the most, with the decision of the relevant administrative board. At the end of this period, students who cannot successfully complete the MDP courses are dismissed from the program.

The student who completes the MDP is not awarded a certificate before having earned the right to graduate from the major program.

No, students who take leave of absence from their major program are automatically granted leave of absence in their MDP too.

Yes, courses within the scope of the Minor Degree Program (MDP) may be counted toward the major program, subject to the approval of The Administrative Board of The Faculty to which the major program is affiliated.

No, students who take additional courses due to the Minor Degree Program (MDP) are not required to pay an extra fee for the course load exceeding the credit limit, up to 25 credits, as determined by The University Senate.

In case the student graduates from their major program and continues with the MDP, the admission scholarships specified in the TEDU Regulations on Scholarship for Undergraduate Students can be extended for up to two semesters. During this period, the student cannot benefit from other scholarships.
